IHRA Announces Acquisition Of Memphis International Raceway

The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) announced Wednesday, December 24 that it has completed the acquisition of the former Memphis International Raceway (also known as Memphis Motorsports Park) in Millington, Tennessee, officially closing on the property December 23.

Opened in 1987, the facility has hosted major drag racing events and national touring series and was previously sanctioned by IHRA. Under IHRA ownership, the acquisition brings the facility full circle, reconnecting the track’s history with a renewed vision for its future.

The facility will operate as a multi-use destination supporting drag racing, stock car competition, grassroots motorsports, and other large-scale events, continuing its role in tourism and economic activity in Millington and Shelby County.

We are committed to bringing meaningful racing back to this property while expanding its role as a destination for a wide range of events that serve racers, fans, and the surrounding community.”

IHRA will begin facility improvements and operational preparations in the coming days, with additional announcements regarding schedules and programming to follow.

At one time listed for as much as $13.5 million, the property last sold for $2.06 million prior to the IHRA acquisition. With the addition, the IHRA’S track portfolio now includes the tracks known as or formerly known as Milan Dragway, National Trail Raceway, Kil-Kare Raceway, Dragway 42, Empire Dragway, Maple Grove Raceway, and Piedmont Dragway.
