The IHRA is entering a new era of growth and expansion with the appointment of Dustin Farthing as the organization’s new President.

The IHRA officially announced Farthing’s leadership role as the sanctioning body continues expanding beyond traditional drag racing into multiple motorsports disciplines. With extensive experience as both a world champion racer and a successful businessman, Farthing steps into the position during a pivotal period for the organization under owner Darryl Cuttell.

Dustin Farthing Brings Championship Racing Experience To IHRA

Farthing arrives at IHRA with one of the most diverse motorsports resumes in the industry.

Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished personal watercraft racers in the world, Farthing has earned more than 30 professional world championships throughout his racing career. Beyond personal watercraft competition, he has competed in offshore powerboat racing, snowcross, and Lamborghini Super Trofeo competition.

But Farthing’s background extends far beyond the driver’s seat.

He has also successfully built and operated multiple businesses nationwide, including powersports dealerships, motorsports operations, sponsorship programs, and large-scale construction companies. That combination of business leadership and competitive racing experience made him a strong fit for the rapidly evolving IHRA organization.

As President, Farthing will oversee strategic growth initiatives across all IHRA divisions, including drag racing, offshore powerboat racing, stock car racing, pulling, snowmobile competition, concerts, personal watercraft racing, and future motorsports expansions.

“IHRA has an incredible foundation, an iconic brand, and some of the most passionate racers and fans in motorsports,” said Dustin Farthing. “This organization has the opportunity to become one of the most powerful motorsports platforms in the world by uniting multiple disciplines under one vision. Our focus moving forward will be growing the sport, supporting racers and tracks, building stronger sponsor partnerships, and creating world-class experiences for fans, competitors, and communities across the country.”

IHRA Continues Expanding Beyond Drag Racing

The IHRA was founded as a drag racing organization, but it has recently aggressively expanded into new forms of motorsports competition. Under the ownership of Darryl Cuttell, IHRA has added offshore powerboat racing, stock car racing, pulling competitions, and personal watercraft racing while also expanding national schedules and acquiring additional racing facilities.

The organization’s long-term vision centers around building a unified championship platform that connects multiple motorsports disciplines under the IHRA banner.

“Dustin is exactly the type of leader this organization needs as we continue building the future of the IHRA,” said Darryl Cuttell. “He understands racers, sponsors, promotion, operations, and the business side of motorsports at the highest level. More importantly, he brings energy, vision, and a racer-first mentality that aligns perfectly with where we are taking this company. We believe Dustin will play a major role in helping elevate IHRA into one of the most recognized motorsports organizations in the world.”

Farthing Already Impacting IHRA Growth

Farthing has already played a significant role in helping grow the IHRA’s powerboat and personal watercraft racing divisions before officially being named President.

Those divisions have experienced rapid expansion through increased racer participation, new national events, larger sponsor partnerships, and broader media exposure. His involvement in those successful initiatives helped establish confidence in his ability to help guide the organization’s larger long-term vision.

One of the biggest themes surrounding Farthing’s appointment is the emphasis on a racer-first approach.

Having spent decades competing at the highest levels himself, Farthing understands both the operational and competitive sides of motorsports. That perspective could prove critical as IHRA works to strengthen relationships with racers, track operators, sponsors, and fans.

The organization’s leadership believes Farthing’s blend of business experience and hands-on racing knowledge positions IHRA for continued growth during a highly competitive era for motorsports entertainment. With expansion already underway across several disciplines, IHRA appears committed to building a larger national presence while continuing to evolve beyond its traditional drag racing roots.
