JE Pistons, as we all know, manufactures pistons for plenty of different racing engines. One application that has been absent from JE catalog has been the large bore nitrous and blown alcohol. It seems like only yesterday that engines breaking over 500 cubic inches were the hot ticket news in drag racing. Now of course it isn’t uncommon to see 565s or even 632s being put together for a number of different classes. Everything from blown alcohol to nitrous cars and nasty NA engines are being based off these massive big blocks.
JE recently told us that they are in the final stages of releasing four brand new pistons offerings for the drag racing engine builders and racers: an open chamber blown alcohol dome, open chamber nitrous, 632 flat top, and a 632 nitrous series. We had to know more, so we had JE send us some of the tech facts on each of these pistons.
BBC Open Chamber Blown Alcohol Dome
- Designed specifically for high horsepower, blown alcohol BBC engines.

- .043″, 1/16, 3/16 ring package
- Utilizes a 3/16″ oil ring to ensure oil control in nitrous engines
- Fits popular open chamber heads
- Vertical and lateral gas ports have been incorporated to optimize top ring seal and reduce friction.
- Ring grooves are machined to accept our series J860 “HNS” Hardened Nitrous Series rings with .043 back-cut top ring, 1/16 taper face second ring and 3/16 oil ring.

- Precision CNC machined ring grooves are designed for .043 back-cut top rings, .043 D-wall 2nd rings, and 3.0mm oil rings.
