Anyone who has spent time building or modifying a vehicle knows one of the most frustrating parts of the process can happen before a wrench ever gets turned can be finding the right part.

JEGS has launched a completely redesigned e-commerce website aimed at making that process faster and easier for racers, builders, restorers, and enthusiasts shopping through one of the largest performance-parts catalogs in the industry.

The new platform was developed to handle approximately 1.8 million parts and nearly 300 million vehicle applications and fitments. Rather than simply presenting shoppers with an enormous catalog and making them sort through it, the updated site uses vehicle-aware search, improved filtering, and connected application data to narrow the results to parts that should actually fit the vehicle being worked on.

A catalog with 1.8 million parts creates plenty of options, but it also creates a challenge. The new JEGS website is designed around cutting through that complexity. Customers can use vehicle-aware search to narrow results based on their specific application, while streamlined categories and more robust fitment information help eliminate products that don’t apply.

The goal is pretty straightforward: spend less time searching through parts that won’t work and more time finding the ones that will. For enthusiasts juggling engine combinations, suspension components, driveline parts, electronics, restoration pieces, and countless other pieces of a build, that can make the shopping process significantly less painful.

Knowing a part fits is only part of the equation, you also need to know if it’s available, what it costs, and when you’re likely to get it. The new site connects directly to its inventory and pricing systems, allowing customers to see current product availability and pricing while shopping. That integration is especially useful when you’re in the middle of a project and trying to avoid discovering after checkout that a critical component isn’t actually sitting on a shelf somewhere.

The redesigned platform also gives customers access to order history, returns, warranty support, and technical literature through their account after a purchase is completed.

The checkout experience received a major update as well. JEGS now accepts credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe Link, and Affirm through a PCI DSS-compliant tokenized payment platform. That gives customers multiple options for getting an order completed without forcing everyone through the same payment method.

The entire idea behind the redesign is reducing friction from the moment someone starts searching for a part until the order is finished.

“We needed to transform the customer experience, respond faster to the market, and build a stronger foundation for growth,” said Gabe Mendoza, Chief Executive Officer of JEGS. “We now have a commerce foundation built for speed, so we can keep improving the experience as fast as our customers’ expectations change.”

The new website wasn’t simply a cosmetic redesign, JEGS built the platform using PhaseZero’s CxCommerce system, which is designed specifically for complex parts businesses. Nimble Gravity provided implementation support.

The project reached full production in five months and required more than 20 enterprise integrations. Those integrations connect the public-facing JEGS storefront with the company’s ERP, fulfillment, customer-service, and payment systems. That’s important because the customer experience depends on more than what the website looks like. Search results, inventory, pricing, shipping, payment processing, and post-sale support all need to communicate with each other behind the scenes.

JEGS also built the new system with future changes in mind. Its merchandising, marketing, and e-commerce teams can now adjust search functions, promotions, content, and site configuration without the same level of development work required by the previous system. That should allow JEGS to respond more quickly when customers need different information, new search functionality, or changes in how products are organized and presented.
