An Orlando family is mourning the unimaginable loss of their young daughter following an on-track racing incident on Saturday at the Orlando Speed World Dragway. Seven-year-old Elienisse Diaz was reportedly making her first runs in a junior dragster during the track’s test and tune event. She passed away from her injuries on Tuesday evening.
“It is with immense sadness and devastation that I share the passing of our sweet girl, Elienisse Zoe Diaz last night,” shared a representative of the family on social media. “At 10:54 p.m. she was called home and entered the gates of heaven, fully healed from her earthly injuries. Please keep her mom, dad, brother, sister, and extended family close to your heart in prayer, as they navigate the unimaginable loss of their sweet girl. I also pray all of our teachers and staff are given the words and wisdom to help comfort and guide the grief of all the kids at our school, especially the other first graders, as they navigate the loss of their beloved classmate. Her presence will be so greatly missed and their little hearts are so innocent and tender. My heart is absolutely shattered.”
Diaz had just celebrated her seventh birthday on January 30, and photos from the Orlando Speed World Dragway showed her beaming with excitement over her new junior dragster.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident that took place at OSW on Sunday,” the track said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Elienisse’s family, and all those affected, including our racing community. Motorsports is built on passion, but moments like these remind us of the risks that come with what we love. While injuries can heal, the pain of loss is immeasurable. We stand together in support, mourning, and prayer during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to those grieving and will continue to uplift them in our thoughts.”
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved first grade student Elienisse Diaz passed away last night,” added leaders of the Eastland Christian School where Elienisse attended in a statement. “She was a bright light in our school community, and we are thankful for the time we had with her. Her beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all of us. Our hearts go out to her family during this incredibly difficult time, and we ask that you join us in lifting them up in prayer and support. May we surround them with love and comfort as they navigate through this unimaginable loss. We will hold Elienisse’s memory close to our hearts. Thank you for your understanding and support as we come together to mourn this loss and remember the joy she brought to all of us.”
Our thoughts are with the Diaz family and all of those whose life Elienisse touched in her life.
