Keith Berry’s Corvette Is Off The Jig At Bell Chassisworks

Back in October
, Keith Berry was testing his immaculate brand-new Bell Chassis-built C5 Corvette at Maryland International Raceway in preparation for the Yellow Bullet Nationals when the car overpowered the track just past the sixty-foot marker, sending him into the left retaining wall and crunching the nose. The car, which had made its on-track debut just two weeks prior at Donald Long’s No Mercy III race at South Georgia Motorsports Park, was damaged heavily enough to end Berry’s season almost immediately after it started.

Berry took the Corvette home, back to Georgia and Bell Chassis, where the Bell team worked their magic in short order to repair the nose of the car.

The photo to the left was taken on November 11th. After all of the crunched parts were removed and the engine was pulled out it was determined that the chassis needed to go back up onto the jig for repair. With only a couple of months before the 2013 season starts at the end of February with Lights Out IV at SGMP, the Bell Chassisworks team got crackin’ on the repairs.

Today, little more than a month later, we received the montage of photos below from Keith himself. At this point the car is back on the ground from the chassis jig and is almost ready for paint. Berry and the rest of the WOOOO! Crew expect to be testing in early February to be ready for Lights Out IV.

The car rolled out of the chassis shop today, a mere five weeks after arriving.

This time, he’s hoping to have a bit more time in the seat to show what the car can really do. For those of you who don’t remember our previous article on the car, it features a 3,200-horsepower LSX engine sporting the best of the best parts on the market. We can’t wait to see Keith out there again!

Here’s video of the ‘crash’, if you haven’t seen it before.
