Nostalgia drag racing fans have a huge reason to celebrate this summer because the legendary National Hot Rod Reunion is officially heading back to its roots. As the NHRA celebrates its massive 75th anniversary season, racing officials decided it was the perfect time to bring the beloved historic name back to Beech Bend Raceway. The highly anticipated 3-day festival of speed takes over the iconic Kentucky dragstrip from June 18 all the way to June 20.

Big changes are also happening behind the scenes to ensure the event thrives for years to come. Broc Porter and his wife Rebecca, will spearhead the race operations for the very first time. Their dedicated family has operated the world-class facility since 1984. To guarantee success, the couple is receiving direct guidance from Blake Bowser, the man responsible for the booming California Hot Rod Reunion. Porter stated: “This is an opportunity to build this race back to what it was when it first arrived in the early 2000s.” He noted the race helped put their track on the map and wants to honor the rich legacy of both Beech Bend and NHRA drag racing.

National Hot Rod Reunion

Serving as the sixth official stop in the popular Hot Rod Heritage Series, the National Hot Rod Reunion promises to deliver a sensory overload of pure vintage horsepower. All event proceeds will directly benefit the NHRA Motorsports Museum located in Pomona. Trackside fans will experience a massive swap meet full of rare parts, a vibrant show-and-shine car show, and the legendary nitro-burning cacklefests. On the actual dragstrip, brave drivers will unleash nostalgia Top Fuel dragsters capable of hitting speeds over 240 mph.

NHRA Sportsman Manager Jason Galvin believes the 75th anniversary tie-in perfectly sets the stage for a booming brand resurgence. The weekend culminates with elimination rounds kicking off on Sunday to crown the ultimate racing champions in a true festival atmosphere that honors the original drag racing pioneers. Anyone craving the distinct smell of burnt rubber and pure nitro absolutely needs to mark their calendars for the National Hot Rod Reunion right now.
