Lingenfelter, Carlyle Set LSX Records At Lingenfelter Nationals

It was a big weekend for the LSX contingent. With the delivery of the COPO Camaros ongoing around the country, the race is on to see who can get the most performance out of one, and so far it’s the folks at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.  This past Sunday at Norwalk Raceway Park at the Lingenfelter Performance Nationals, the Lingenfelter team was able to coax the LPE-modified Camaro to an 8.64 at 159.12 mph with only minimal changes to the out-of-the-box setup. After making a few shakedown runs in as-delivered trim, they installed  a Lingenfelter LNC-2000 adjustable RPM Limiter/timing retard controller and changed the factory calibration to one from LPE.

“Chevrolet Performance built a great car and with a little bit of Lingenfelter magic we were able to pull extra power out of it,” said Ken Lingenfelter, owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. “At Lingenfelter, we’re experts at LS engines, and what we were able to do with the COPO Camaro in four short days is an extension of the experience and commitment we make to the LS package. We believe there is more power left in this COPO Camaro, and we know our performance team will get it.”

On the super-fast side of the LSX equation, Mark Carlyle also competed at the Lingenfelter Performance Nationals in his Atomic Fusion Corvette. He cranked out a 7.09 at over 212 mph, which makes him not only the quickest and fastest IRS-equipped car in the world, but also the fastest LSX-powered Drag Radial car in the world.

Mark Carlyle’s 7.09 212 MPH Pass

Carlyle has Jason Lee and Patrick Barnhill of Part Time Performance tickling the keys on the laptop to help get the car performing up to snuff and it appears that they’re on the right track. Keep in mind that this car weighs in at a portly 3,375 pounds, although Carlyle admits to hanging 30 pounds in the nose as a result of the video below. The team was shooting for the elusive six-second zone on the prepped Summit Raceway park surface, but with no wheelie bars on the car…well, just watch the video. LSX at its finest!
