McLeod Racing and company President Paul Lee announced today a two-race partnership with drag racing veteran Gary Densham and his family-owned team for the final two races on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series schedule in Las Vegas and Pomona, Calif. McLeod Racing will serve as the primary sponsor of the Gary Densham Motorsports Funny Car at the NHRA Big “O” Tires Nationals and the season ending NHRA Auto Club Finals with Lee, a seasoned nitro pilot, at the controls.

“I’m excited to get back out to the track and hop in Gary’s car for these last two races and more importantly, proud to be associated with a great team. Gary and his team are dedicated proven performers on and off the track, and McLeod and its employees have the same dedication when it comes to manufacturing the best clutches and driveline components in the automotive aftermarket. I’m happy that Gary let me have the “keys” to his awesome hot rod!” an excited Lee stated.

Lee has been competing in the sport since the mid-70’s, transitioning from bracket racing to a Top Alcohol Funny Car, which he campaigned from 1988 through 2004. In 2005, Lee completed his nitro Funny Car licensing process and entered four national events. In 2010, the legendary Jim Dunn tabbed Lee to drive his flopper, in which he qualified for his first race and scored his first professional round win. Last season, he recorded quarter-final round appearances at three races.

After the Lee and Densham duo debut in Las Vegas, the McLeod Racing Funny Car will travel across town, where it will be a feature vehicle on display at the 2012 SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which begins the Tuesday following the Las Vegas event. There, Lee and company will have the flopper on display in the McLeod Racing booth #22837.

Boninfante Friction, Lawson Rock & Oil, and Dragzine will join McLeod and Lee as major associate sponsors for the two-race deal. Yes, you read that right…Dragzine will be onboard Lee’s 300 mph flopper!

Naturally, Lee is excited about competing at the final two races in a car that’s been known to spoil the fun for the top tier teams in the past. “I hope that we can go rounds and put the McLeod Racing Charger in Victory Lane in Las Vegas or Pomona!”

If you can’t attend the NHRA Big “O” Tires Nationals, look for the McLeod Racing Funny Car on ESPN2’s qualifying telecast from Las Vegas on October 27th at 10:30 p.m. eastern. Be sure to look for the Dragzine logo on the car!
