The MDRA, Midwest Drag Radial Association, based out of the Illinois/Wisconsin area recently hosted a banquet to announce the new updates for 2012. In 2011 the MDRA hosted a few races based the X275 rules with a few tweaks, for 2012, the same X275 class with massaged rules will be run, as well as a new addition being a 315 radial / 29 x10.5 slick class.
All races this year will be held at Great lakes Dragaway in Union Grove WI. The biggest draws to this little organization’s setup is the location, the cash payouts, and the laid back racers looking to have a good time. The way the local cars run and the conditions of the grass roots style track can prove to be a challenge to tuner and driver on the small tires. So its anyone’s money to grab, as evident by last years races, where each race had a different winner at it and ranged from 4.90’s to 5.40’s.
Guaranteed cash payouts at each race with a reasonable entry fee is sure to draw some decent crowds and cars. A newly debuted points system will also be put into place this year which is a first for them. They are hoping for bigger turnouts and better payouts for the racers this year. The dates for the 2012 season were finalized and posted just this week. There will be 4 races this year running inside of the popular Nitrous Street Car Brawl event.
Dates for this year are as follows:
June 23, 2012
July 21, 2012
August 25, 2012
September 22, 2012
