After running a Ford Mustang for the past few years, veteran Pro Mod racer Mike Janis will be transitioning away from the blue oval in favor of a bowtie. The innovative engine builder has signed an agreement with Race Car Specialties of Warren, Michigan to be the official race car and chassis supplier of Mike Janis Racing. Work is already underway to build Mike a brand new 2013 Chevrolet Camaro.
During the 2012 season, Mike competed in both the NHRA and ADRL Pro Mod series. An unfortunate early season crash in Gainesville resulted in costly damage to Mike’s car, but with the help of crew, friends and sponsors he had the car repaired in time to compete at the next NHRA event one month later in Charlotte, NC. The Lancaster, NY based team never really got going in the NHRA and finished outside the top 10. The ADRL was a different story though, as Mike finished in fifth in ADRL Pro Mod, just nine rounds out of first and ahead of heavy hitters Rickie Smith and Todd Tutterow.
Both Race Car Specialties and Mike Janis are very excited about the partnership ahead.
“This is a very exciting day at Race Car Specialties” said Joe Peters, Owner of RCS. “We have over 25 years of combined race car knowledge between me and General Manager, Scott Amesse. I have been a fan of MJR for over ten plus years. To be able to build a brand new 2013 Chevy Camaro for one of the greatest names and racers in the history of Pro Modified is mind blowing. We have great respect for Mike Janis and MJR. “
“At MJR we value each and every partner” said Mike Janis JR., GM/Crew Chief at MJR. “With Race Car Specialties coming on board for 2013 and beyond, this really shows the type of value we add for every partner involved with MJR. We could not be happier to be involved with Joe and his great team of guys at RCS. This new 2013 Chevy Camaro will be a top contender and we will fly the RCS brand high and with great pride” said Janis Jr.
