The LS platform might be the default choice for many, but the Gen III Hemi is finally getting the dedicated engineering it deserves. While walking the halls at PRI 2025, we found Milodon tucked away in their booth with a solution for a problem many Mopar builders ignore until it creates a massive mess. For over 25 years, this Southern California company has built everything in-house, and their latest release is a Gen III Hemi oil pan specifically designed to solve oil control issues in the modern Challenger, Charger, and Hellcat.

The problem Milodon set out to fix is prevalent in high-horsepower builds. You have racers building 1,000 horsepower Hellcats and running 8-second passes at 185 mph, yet they are often still using the factory oil pan. At those speeds and rpm levels, the stock setup struggles to control the fluid dynamics. The result is oil getting whipped up by the crankshaft and blown out through the breathers. It coats the engine bay in a film of oil and means that fluid is not in the sump where the bearings desperately need it.

Milodon addresses this with two specific part numbers: 31033 for standard applications and 31034 for Hellcats. This new Gen III Hemi oil pan features a front sump design with an 8-inch depth and a robust 7-quart capacity. The real innovation here is the windage tray. Steve Morrison from Milodon explained that the tray design was derived directly from the factory Drag Pak cars. Those Super Stock engines spin to 8,000 rpm, so absolute oil control is critical. The Milodon setup effectively scrapes oil off the crank and directs it back to the sump, preventing the aeration and windage that robs horsepower.

When testers swapped to this pan, the oil accumulation in the breathers stopped immediately. It is a fix you do not have to guess about. By keeping the oil in the bottom of the pan during hard launches and high-rpm pulls, you ensure the pump always has a steady supply. For anyone pushing a modern Mopar hard on the street or strip, upgrading to this Gen III Hemi oil pan is the smartest reliability modification you can make. They are in stock now at major retailers like Summit Racing.
