Mustang Week Charlotte offers much more than a traditional car show. On the grounds of Charlotte Motor Speedway, you’ll find zMAX Dragway, a top-tier drag racing facility that will host all of Mustang Week Charlotte’s straight-line racing action.
Four classes will run on track during Mustang Week Charlotte:
- Street Kings
- True Street
- Open Comp
- Test & Tune/Grudge
Mustang Week Street Kings

Do you have the ultimate street-driven Ford or Mustang? The Mustang Week Street Kings class is where you can prove it. This class was inspired by the Street Car Braggin’ Rights (SCBR) Shootout and other popular street car events.
Street Kings is open to all Ford-bodied vehicles, including Mustangs, F-150s, classics, and all model years. The class will qualify 64 vehicles. After three rounds of blind qualifying, the 64 quickest vehicles will be split into four divisions based on qualifying position:
- 1–16: King Class
- 17–32: Outlaw
- 33–48: Hot Sauce
- 49–64: Grocery Getter
To keep competition fair, the King Class will run in a true heads-up format with no breakout. All other divisions will use a breakout set 0.10 seconds quicker than the number one qualifier’s best elapsed time in that division.
You can check out the rules and learn more about the class on the Mustang Week website.
Mustang Week True Street

If you want to prove you have a legitimate street-legal ride, the Mustang Week True Street class is for you. Each vehicle must complete a mandatory 30-mile cruise before returning to the track for three back-to-back quarter-mile passes.
The goal is to run as close as possible to your declared elapsed-time average, or, if you have the horsepower, lay down the quickest overall elapsed-time average.
Mustang Week True Street is open to street-legal Mustangs, Fords, F-150s, and Ford-powered vehicles.
Here are the elapsed-time average awards racers can chase in Mustang Week True Street:
- Overall Quickest E.T. Average
- True Street — Winner & Runner-Up

Mustang Week Open Comp

Ford-bodied race cars will have their own place to compete at Mustang Week Charlotte in Open Comp. This class allows racers to compete using a Pro .500 Tree and a 0.10-second breakout format.
A 32-car field will be set after qualifying on Friday. Qualifying is based on reaction time, with the racer closest to .000 earning the top spot. Red lights will be placed at the bottom of the qualifying order based on how far negative the reaction time is.
The quickest elapsed time permitted during Open Comp qualifying is 8.30 seconds, while the slowest is 15.70 seconds. There is no elapsed-time limit, minimum or maximum, during eliminations.
