NHRA Announces Revised Pro Mod Schedule, Will Resume July 18-19

The National Hot Rod Association on Wednesday revealed its revised 2020 schedule, which in addition to a pair of unique back-to-back national events at the Lucas Oil Raceway, will feature a staggering run of 15 race weekends in a row in order to complete a 19-race championship schedule. The NHRA has also announced its revised E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Drag Racing Series schedule, which is equally as aggressive, featuring two spans of five races in a row, in an effort to complete the intended 12 races.

The series, which was set to open its season in Gainesville, Florida in March — and was on the property prepared to begin qualifying when the plug was pulled on the event due to the emergence of the Coronavirus — will now open its campaign at the second of three Indianapolis races on July 18-19. After a two-week break, it will then visit two tracks it has never before competed at, Bandimere Speedway near Denver (August 7-9) and Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota (August 14-16). Those events will be followed by Topeka (August 21-23), Atlanta (August 28-30), and the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis (September 3-6).

After a week off, the series will return to action at Charlotte (September 18-20), Gainesville (September 25-27), St. Louis (October 2-4), Bristol (October 9-11), and Dallas (October 16-18). Finally, the tour will wrap up and crown its champion October 31 – November 1 in Las Vegas.
