Team owners committed to the future continuation and prosperity of the Pro Modified category at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series national events announced this week the formation of a new association know as the Real Pro Mod Association, or RPM. The RPM was created to preserve and promote the future of what has become one of the most exciting professional categories in the NHRA, touted as the fuel altereds of the 21st century. This new organization is committed to a number of goals, including:
• Secure sponsorship so the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series can continue past 2013
• Provide input to NHRA on rule changes to achieve parity between the different power adder combinations
• Promote diversity within the class to invite spectator interest and involvement
• Maintain the most exciting and competitive door to door racing on the planet
RPM has already been in discussions with the NHRA regarding its formation and its intent, and the NHRA has applauded its efforts to locate funding for future inclusion of the category at national events following the departure of Roger Burgess’ ProCare Rx backing at the end of the 2013 season.
All the members of the Real Pro Mod Association are self-made businessmen that actively compete as drivers, team owners, and crew chiefs in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series. As the RPM release states, the formation of the association is not just a passing fancy, but instead. a commitment by the stars of the sport to shepherd the future of the class.
