We’re a little late to the party on this one, but better late than never is our motto.
During the annual Holley National Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, Ky. last weekend, event officials from the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum announced the initial plans for the addition of a third Hot Rod Reunion to compliment the Bowling Green event and the hugely popular California Hot Rod Reunion out in Bakersfield, Calif.
The third NHRA-operated Hot Rod Reunion will reach up to the far Northeast, where class racing and doorslammer battles were all the rage in the golden years of the sport, with a proposed mid-September date at the New England Dragway in Epping, N.H.
The Northeast boasts quite a contingent of nostalgia vehicles, from some of the toughest Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars on down, so there should be no shortage of attendees and entrants at this one.
This announcement is the second such headliner for the New England Dragway this month, as the IHRA-turned-NHRA facility recently was unveiled as a new stop on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series schedule in June of next year. We’ll have more on this developing story as more information becomes available, but for those of you up north with anything that resembles a nostalgia racing machine or a classic street rod, you’d better start getting your parts ready and your shine on.
