The growth of nostalgia drag racing has been steady here in the United States for the past decade, but it has also seen substantial growth in other parts of the world, too. Dragstalgia is Santa Pod Raceway’s version of our own Hot Rod Reunion here in the United States, and it’s packed with just as much hardcore nostalgia racing. The Santa Pod Raceway was filled to capacity with show cars, live bands, historic car displays, and plenty of nostalgia racecars that helped make Dragstalgia an action-packed event.
The weather for Dragstalgia was hot, but it didn’t deter the fans from showing up in droves to check out everything this event had to offer. Countries from every part of Europe were represented at Dragstalgia, bringing their own unique flair to the event along with many iconic nostalgia cars that could be seen on the midway or the track.
One of the biggest highlights of the event was the Chi-Town Hustler Dodge Omni Funny Car that is now owned by Paul Harris and will be campaigned in the UK Nostalgia Funny Car Series. There was also a huge “Cracklefest” that brought all the nostalgia nitro cars and other classic rides to the track to produce a symphony of horsepower for the fans.
The racing action at Dragstalgia came courtesy of an amazing mixture of classes; there was a Run What Ya Brung day that allowed owners of pre-1980’s machines to get some track time in. For classic dragster fans the Slingshot Showdown brought out numerous classic diggers that duked it out on the track all weekend. With other classes including Willy’s Wars, Nostalgia Pro Stock Bike, Outlaw Anglia, NSA Bikes, Nostalgia SuperStock, and more, Dragstalgia provided an immense amount of nostalgia racing fun.
