Randy “The Natural” Couture is another step closer to hitting the track. The SCAG Racing team unveiled the six-time UFC Champion’s 1937 Pro Mod at the Gerber Collision and Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
At the Las Vegas 4-Wide Nationals, it was announced that Couture would try his hand at Pro Mod drag racing. It was revealed that Couture was going to start working on getting used to driving a 5,000 horsepower door car so he could make his debut later in 2025.
“The car hasn’t looked better. I’m very, very excited to be in Cats Eye Cold, back in orange and black, back to my wrestling roots at Oklahoma State and Oregon State University, where I both wrestled and then coached,” said Couture who is in the process of completing his NHRA Pro Mod licensing and will make his competition debut at the NHRA Virginia Nationals in June. “Excited to be with my new team here, SCAG Racing. I’m learning some new skills and tickling that competitive bone by going Pro Mod racing. I’m very excited about the opportunity, and I think it’s going to be an amazing year.”
It’s certainly refreshing to see a car that’s different from the rest of the pack. The bigger question is, how will Couture adapt to driving one of the most unruly race cars in the world?
