The Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals carries a special meaning to a lot of different people in the sport of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing and that notion is no different for Florida-native Funny Car driver Dave Richards.
“Some of my earliest memories of wanting to drive a Funny Car are standing on the other side of the fence watching these cars,” Richards said. “Gainesville Raceway is our home track and it’s the 50th annual Gatornationals – this race is big.”
Richards welcomes Upper Cut Turf Management and Farmboy Custom Co. as his sponsors for the prestigious 50th annual running of the race held in Gainesville, Florida.
“Jeff Hermanson has helped us out the last couple of years and continues to do so,” Richards added. “We’re putting his name bigger on the car to show our appreciation for everything he’s done for us; they really care about our team.”
Paul Smith will return as crew chief for the Paul Richards Racing 2018 Mustang entry.
