Santa Pod Raceway’s event The Doorslammers brought the excitement of Outlaw Pro Mod racing to the premier track in the UK. With no rules on the table beside safety requirements, racers could really open their cars up to see what they could do on full quarter-mile rips. Adding some spice to the action, racers pulled their opponents for each round of racing out of a hat, grudge racing-style, and spectators were able to bet on the races, as well.
There was also a pair of street car classes on the bill, Pro Street and True Street, that brought out some great cars. The Pro Street class had a slightly more open rule set that allowed for back half cars and other chassis changes. Racers in the True Street class weren’t able to modify the floor pan, firewall, or chassis, so they had to be racing as a legit street car. Both of these classes were heads-up affairs and provided some amazing racing action all weekend.
The smaller displacement cars could participate in the Front Wheel Drive, 4-Cylinder, and 6-Cylinder classes at The Doorslammers. Each of these eliminators had very open rules as long as the cars had the correct number of cylinders and they ran heads-up during eliminations.
