In just a couple weeks, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be invaded by a massive amount of hardcore drag racers, all vying for the chance to be crowned event champion and take home a wad of cash. The Battle presented by Ultra Carbon is set to take place on May 20-21, and is the newest venture of the crew over a West Coast Hot Rod Association, designed to bring high dollar Outlaw and Grudge racing to the West coast.

13006630_10153331093607202_8285117162739608162_nDanny Topol, the mastermind behind The Battle, metaphorically ripped up the rulebook when he laid plans for this bash in the desert, scrapping the traditional rules of both Outlaw 8.5 and True 10.5, along with adding a Unlimited and No Boost to the event roster. True 10.5 is only class limited by tire size, while Outlaw 8.5 entries must retain rear frame rail — other than that, the sky’s the limit on weight and engine combinations. So, you’d better break out the cut off wheel and get to cutting if you want be top dog in these two classes.

The No Boost class is setup to bring out the quickest naturally aspirated and nitrous cars on the West Coast. If you’re looking to enter your Pro Mod car in this class, think again. While there might be some similarities to Pro Mods, Top Sportsman-style cars with a maximum of 5-inch bore spacing are the only full tube chassis cars allowed in this class. Tire sizes and minimum weights were cut out of The Battle rulebook, as well, so make sure to bring your steam rollers.

heart, opening the doors to any competitor whose entry has doors and and doesn’t rely on making power by spiking their fuel with nitromethane. The lack of rules should lead to some jaw-dropping passes and is sure to entice Pro Modified racers to show up in droves, as they battle for a $20,000 pot (if the 16-car field is filled).

The Battle also features Grudge racing and a new Team class that pits eight teams comprised of 8.5, 275, 10.5, No Boost, and Unlimited entries against one another. These additions, along with the bikini contest and live DJ, are all reasons to make this event one not to miss.
