Pro Mods And More: The 2020 PDRA Season Preview

The PDRA is ready to bring another big season of racing to fans by packing the pits at some of the biggest tracks in the country with top-shelf race cars. There will be something for racers and fans at each of the PDRA’s eight stops that will feature both professional and sportsman level racing.

One of the best attributes of the PDRA is the variety of racing it delivers at each and every race — there’s plenty of Pro Mods, but the PDRA also brings Pro Nitrous Motorcycles, Top Dragsters, and Jr Dragsters to each race. To spice things up, the series also hosts crazy exhibition vehicles and classes to entertain the fans in the stands.

According to the PDRA’s Tyler Crossnoe, the organization doesn’t have a lot of big changes in store for the 2020 season, but what they are adding will make a big impact on the product you see on the track.

“We don’t have a ton of changes other than Pro Street debuting as a small-tire class at three races this season. We are focusing on trying to improve our car counts along with the fan experience during the events. The exciting addition of two national event tracks in Summit Motorsports Park (Norwalk, OH) and Maple Grove Raceway (Reading, PA) to our schedule is something we’re looking forward to this season.”

The PDRA is expecting to see a lot of new teams making their debuts in the Pro Nitrous and Pro Boost categories this year, and that will raise the level of competition in these classes. Of course, Extreme Pro Stock and Pro Nitrous Motorcycle will be back for six events, plus the Pro Outlaw 632 racers will run the full PDRA schedule this year.

“Besides all of the great pro class racing in the PDRA, we have a full slate of sportsman racing that will go on at each event. Elite Top Sportsman and Elite Top Dragster are back to highlight the quickest bracket racers in the country. The Top Sportsman 32 and Top Dragster 32 classes give a ton of cars a chance to run with a premier organization and race for a championship. The future stars of tomorrow in the Jr Dragster classes and the local entries in the Bracket Bash class will still have a chance to pick up a custom PDRA 660 Man trophy this year,” Crossnoe says.

When you hear Crossnoe speak about what the 2020 PDRA season will be like you can really hear the excitement in his voice. He and the entire PDRA organization are looking forward to bringing one of the best shows in all of drag racing to fans this year.

“Pro Nitrous and Pro Boost are shaping up to have some of the closest racing of any organization — we’re talking side-by-side racing in the low 3.6-second range. Extreme Pro Stock will be jamming gears and trying to break down the 3-second barrier in competition again in 2020. Pro Nitrous Motorcycle will be bringing 3-second rides on two wheels to the show, Pro Outlaw 632 will showcase low 4-second runs with only 632 cubic-inches of engine under the hood, and Pro Street will provide a small-tire flare to the East Coast Nationals, North vs. South Shootout and the World Finals back at Virginia Motorsports Park in October,” Crossnoe explains.
