ALQ-1For 2013 the PSCA has added the Rocky Mountain Summer Series to its lineup, and has just announced a third event to the schedule. The MagnaFuel Rocky Mountain Summer Series is designed to give the racers in the western half of the country a place to showcase their skills, and opened its season over the weekend at the legendary Bandimere Speedway just outside of Denver.

If you weren’t there however, don’t worry, as the second event will also take place at Bandimere over the weekend of August 16-17, and the third, just-announced event at Albuquerque Dragway will finish off the year over the weekend of September 27-28. The three-race series features the PSCA’s Outlaw 10.5, Xtreme Drag Radial/True Ten Five and Outlaw 8.5 classes, as small-tire racing has become a large fan and competitor draw on the West Coast over the last couple of years.

PSCA’s Mel Roth said he has been overwhelmed with the support of the racers and businesses from the New Mexico region, such as Yearwood Performance Center and The Dyno Edge. “These folks have committed their full support and we will do whatever we can to make this event a total success. It’s also great for our racers to be able to race at different tracks and in front of different fans. It’s an honor for us to be able to bring our style of racing to as many people as possible.”

The PSCA is based on the West Coast, and moving this far east is a big change for them, but it’s a chance to give some of those racers stranded in the Rocky Mountains a chance to strut their stuff without having to make a long haul to Las Vegas or Sacramento, the usual venues where PSCA events are held. The Bandimere events will be held in conjunction with Mega Mopar and the Super Chevy show, giving fans a chance to check out some real American steel of all types on the dragstrip.
