Racers utilizing Quick Fuel Technologies carburetors cleaned house at the NHRA JEGS SPORTSNationals at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky last weekend, which is particularly fitting, as Quick Fuel was not only the presenting sponsor of the race, but is also headquartered just down the road in Bowling Green city proper. All told, Quick Fuel was onboard the machines of the winners in Super Stock, Stock, Super Street, and both the winner and runner-up in Super Comp.
In Super Stock, Michigan racer Brad Zaskowski survived seven rounds of racing, outlasting 127 other competitors in the completely full field to defeat Jimmy Hidalgo in the final round. Zaskowski runs Quick Fuels’ SSR-585-VS SS-Series Vacuum Secondary carburetor atop the 327-inch powerplant in his GT/F Camaro, which covered the 1/4-mile at a best of 9.84 during the weekend.
In Stock, young Houston Raikes, appearing in his first-ever national event final round at the age of just sixteen, drove to the crown in his 1971 Chevelle sporting a Quick Fuel SSR-780-VS carburetor atop his big-block Chevrolet, putting a .006 light on Craig Marshall in the final round and fending him off by just .006-seconds at the stripe. Raikes qualified 86th in the field and, like Zaskowski, had to work his way through seven tough rounds to earn the Wally.
In Super Street, Michelle Furr earned her third career national event title with her Quick Fuel-equipped Camaro, downing Jimmy Bannister in a double-breakout affair, while in Super Comp, Tyler Bohannon powered his QFX Series FX-4710-1TS equipped dragster past Nick Folk in an all-Quick Fuel final round.
