RacePak’s Donny Cummins will be hosting an hour-long seminar at the 2015 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show next week in Indianapolis. The purpose of this seminar will be to offer attendees a close-up view of the system’s basic functions. Cummins plans to demonstrate some of the capabilities of the SmartWire system and how to program the various modules, along with how to incorporate it with RacePak’s datalogging functionality.

RacePak introduced it’s SmartWire product line back in 2012, so while it’s not exactly a brand new product, many racers have been hesitant to adopt the system, opting instead for the traditional system of rolls of wire, relays, and fuses. RacePak has reached out to customers to find out why this is the case and found they’re intimidated by the seemingly-complicated nature of the system. Cummins is eager to quell those concerns and demonstrate that the system is user-friendly.

IMG_2483“I get it,” noted Cummins, regarding racers’ concerns. “It looks intimidating. But it really isn’t. That’s the reason for the seminar. We want to show customers that the SmartWire system is not as complicated as it may seem.”

Cummins pointed out that the SmartWire system uses basic commands to control various functions, from activating nitrous solenoids to powering the switch panel. As an example of how the system can simplify a racer’s experience, Cummins says you can program the cooling fan to switch on and off at predetermined temperatures, eliminating the need to monitor the temperatures and turn it on and off manually. “You can also check an individual solenoid, for example, to ensure it’s getting the recommended voltage required for proper operation and at the exact time you want.” adds Cummins. “This type of control, along with our logging functionality, gives racers a new level of control over the various systems at work on their cars.”
