If there’s one thing that racers like more than a good payout are cool trophies. Donald Long and his team at Duck X Productions have combined both with the Battle For The Thrones event at Rockingham Dragway. The Battle For The Thrones is also a Radial Outlaws Racing Series (RORS) points event, so racers are going to be pushing hard to improve their place in the standings and win an epic throne.
The Battle For The Thrones has taken on a life of its own as a race. Those who have earned their throne have been known to bring them to other events to show off and sit in, while others have made them a focal point of their trophy case. Having such an impressive trophy on the line is what motivates so many of the racers to pull out all the stops and try to win this event.
Donald Long has put on plenty of big races, but he’s learned the Thrones are what make this event so special for the racers.
“I think for the racers, the hardware and the trophies that you’re able to win takes everything to the next level. We all know as far as the prize money goes the racers are going to spend that, but having that trophy and the throne is just different. The fact that this is part of the RORS and builds towards that championship keeps things exciting. It really has turned into a can’t-miss event,” Long says.
Fans will be able to see Radial vs The World, Pro 275, Limited Drag Radial, X275, Ultra Street, Limited 235, N/T Pro Truck, N/T Outlaw 275, 8.50 Index and 6.0 Index all competing at the Battle For The Thrones. If the action from Lights Out 16 is any indication of how things will be at the Battle For The Thrones, fans will be in for a big treat when racing starts.
“Radial vs The World and Pro 275 showed why they’re still the fastest cars in the country on any tire at Lights Out. There was so much great side-by-side racing at Lights Out, and I think you’ll see that again at the Battle For The Thrones. These racers aren’t going to hold back, they want the cool trophies and the big wins at events like this,” Long says.
For Long, bringing the Battle For The Thrones to Rockingham Dragway was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. The facility really has a storied history in the world of doorslammer drag racing, and that makes it a great match for the event.
“Rockingham Dragway is a special place and it’s great to now be a part of its history. I’d seen so many big events at “The Rock”, so having the Battle For The Thrones here is a real honor. Dan and Al have worked on bringing the facility to a new level. They make it easy to put on an outstanding show for our racers and fans,” Long explains.
The Battle For The Thrones will be fought at Rockingham Dragway. If you can’t be there in person to see the action you can catch it all on FloRacing right here.
