At the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Orlando in little more than a week, one lucky individual is going to get the Christmas present to end all Christmas presents and one that certainly won’t fit under a tree, as Reher-Morrison Racing Engines, Sunnen, and PRI raffle off an 1,175 horsepower, 588 cubic inch Big Block Chevrolet drag racing powerplant.
Tickets for the race engine raffle will be available in Machinery Row at the PRI Show at the Orange County Convention Center, with a cost of Just $3.00 for a single ticket or $5.00 for a pair. The winning ticket will be drawn on the final day of the show, Saturday, December 3. All of the proceeds of the raffle will go to benefit Victory Junction, serving children with chronic medical conditions and serious illnesses and their families. The Victory Junction Camp, located in Randleman, N.C., was donated by Richard and Lynda Petty and has supported more than 14,000 children and families over the years.
Built by the renowned Reher-Morrison Racing Engines, this engine utilizes a Dart “Big M” iron block with RMRE’s exclusive 12-degree Raptor cylinder heads, a 4340 forged steel crankshaft, RMRE-Manley 4340 forged steel H-beam rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts, RMRE-Ross custom pistons, an RMRE-Erson custom grind camshaft, a Jesel belt drive timing system, Mallory crank trigger ignition system, RMRE-Manley custom titanium intake and exhaust valves, Moroso custom wet sump oiling system, a Gary Williams custom Dominator carburetor, and a host of other high-end components.
Among those involved in the project include ATI, Dart, Edelbrock, JE Pistons, MSD, and VP Fuels. An engine valued at $26,495 for as little as $3.00 – that’s a deal if we ever saw one.
