Rig of the Month: 2008 Performax Stacker From Flying A Motorsports

As the official trailer/motorcoach dealer of Dragzine, Flying A Motorsports‘ extensive lineup of new and used motorhomes and toterhomes, race car trailers, stacker trailers, car haulers, and cargo trailers will be highlighted monthly. This November installment features a selection from Flying A’s extensive used trailer lineup.

“This Performax Trailer comes from the longtime Texas manufacturer,” Alan Cape, President of Flying A Motorsports, says. “The shop builds a great selection of tag, gooseneck, stacker, and semi-trailers. When cared for, they hold their value very well. The quality and options lists are unmatched if someone is looking for that top-of-the-line used trailer.”

We asked Cape how many trailers and hauler lines are available at the Cuba, Missouri location. “We feature seven major lines that spread across every price point and list of features. In our used trailer section, we have handled every brand there is. From experience, we can tell a customer if nearly any brand of trailer brand is a good purchase.”

The workshop area in the front has an extended L-shaped metal top workbench, two tool boxes, and plenty of storage cabinets. Both wall sides of the lift area also have cabinets, a flip-up workbench, along with many provisions for storing tools and race components.

The Performax rig shown is one of its 36-foot long stacker trailers with triple 8,000-pound Torq Flex axles. All the Performax lines use steel framerails with remaining all-aluminum construction and feature a one-piece, .040-inch aluminum walk-on roof and a .063-inch aluminum exterior aluminum skin.

The suspension is air-ride equipped and has Alcoa wheels and Continental brand tires all around that are in good condition. There is a lateral arm power awning on the side of the trailer. More shade is available for teams as there is also an Arrow roof-mount awning system. Access points include double side doors and an electric ramp door in the rear with a long fold-out ramp addition for low race cars.

The Performax quality of the aluminum cabinetry, wall materials used, and overall construction will hold up over the miles. Despite the fact that it’s a used trailer, this rig has many productive miles left to serve a new owner. – Alan Cape

“For someone who doesn’t want a higher-priced new trailer, this is a great option,” Cape adds. “This unit is on display at our Cuba, Missouri location because of our partnership with Elite Motorsports in Oklahoma, which originally had this rig as a trade. Our customers can pick up any of our trailer lines there, as well, or as with this Performax rig, we work with their display lot.

On the interior, the trailer has extensive cabinetry constructed by Performax combined with CTech Manufacturing toolboxes.

Included as other equipment hardware are a hydraulic front trailer lift system, engine changer beam assembly, and a stereo system. One of the unique features also included is an external snap-on vinyl skirting. The skirting affixes to the walls with snaps to cover the tires and protect the lower portion of the trailer when pitted. The interior is skirted with a protective carpet lining, as well.

This stacker trailer is equipped with a 26-foot long "dragster lift." Combined with the second story attic area, two dragsters plus a door car can be accommodated along with additional pit vehicles.

An air compressor is mounted in the second story attic that feeds air lines throughout the rig. Ample electrical outlets are also wired through an electrical service. The coin flooring is in exceptional condition, along with male interior and exterior lighting.

You can view the entire inventory of new and used trailers on the Flying A motorsports website. As you look at an individual trailer, you can also take advantage of their payment calculator.
