Rig Of The Month: Continental 30′ Stacker From Flying A Motorsports

For the new year, Alan Cape from Flying A Motorsports is highlighting a 30-foot stacker model from Continental Cargo Trailers. Continental’s background is building solid trailers with fewer high-end luxury features. Cape notes they are an affordable line that is one of the many levels trailer brands they offer.

“They are not a high-end trailer, but they are a good average man’s trailer that can travel very well regionally,” Cape continues. “Many high-end trailers are the ticket for traveling a ton of miles if you’re following a national racing tour and such. For an average guy with a sportsman operation, this is a solid trailer option that is a part of the many different brands we offer.”

Alan lists some of the trailer’s high quality features such as the installed Stinger brand car lift. “There are only a couple of lift companies making trailer lifts. A Stinger brand such as this 16-foot long unit is a solid performer used in even the highest end trailer lines.”

Triple cabinets above and below the workbench are capped with a matching aluminum closet. A rubber coin floor also features spare tire storage in the floor along with hidden hydraulics for the lift system.

The location of the lift within the trailer is carefully thought out with 55-inches between the rear door and the lift floor. In the front, a mere 12-inches divides the attic storage area built above the workbench area.

The floor level black aluminum cabinetry and workbench are built by Continental. In this model, overhead and floor cabinets with a workbench are capped by a storage closet. All of this cabinetry is mounted to the left side of the trailer by design with 71-inches of space to the curbside wall that provides ample room for a golf cart.

Lots of features around the Continental Cargo trailer are for style as well as work. The extended tongue and a triple axle design are matched with aluminum wheels. The screwless exterior is finished with polished stainless steel corners and nose cap.

Major construction features include screwless aluminum exterior walls and a seamless aluminum roof with a white vinyl ceiling. Spread axle fenderettes are located above the suspension with a row of storage cabinets as well that clear the travel of the lift.

“Their trailers have a solid floor construction,” mentions Cape. “This unit has the vinyl black coin rubber flooring with various D-ring mounts. There is also in-floor spare tire storage. All the hydraulic pump system for the lift is mounted under the floor with accessible trap floor access.”

The trailer is designed to work around the Stinger lift unit. Side cabinet storage clears the lift on each side while there is 55-inches of storage behind the life and the ramp door.

Side door access into the trailer features a wide double door option very popular with racers. The entire rig also uses LED lighting in the overall interior, workbench lighting, exterior pit lighting, and all travel/brake lights.

The work cabinet area is well illuminated by LED lighting and features a storage loft above the cabinets with enough space to store a golf cart in front of the lift.

This is a triple-axle trailer design with aluminum wheels and the extended tongue with 2 5/16-inch ball hitch. To accent the white exterior, there are polished corners, a nose cap, and an aluminum tread plate nose guard lining the front face.

“There are 110-volt outlets located throughout the trailer, and it is set up with a 30-amp electrical panel. A 25-foot electrical lifeline cord is also included,” Cape describes. “With this trailer utilizing LED light technology, most racers using a motorhome with a generator can easily feed the demands of tools and lighting.”

Alan points out there are “economical” brand trailers and there are “cheap” trailers. One of the advantages of viewing the acres of various brands at their Cuba, Missouri location is the first-hand look at strong points versus cost savings for hauling your racing operation down the highway.
