Rig Of The Month: Flying A Motorsports 2006 NRC Motorhome

As the official trailer/motorcoach dealer of Dragzine, Flying A Motorsports’ extensive lineup of new and used motorhomes, toterhomes, racecar trailers, stacker trailers, car haulers, and cargo trailers will be highlighted here in a monthly feature known as the Rig of the Month.

The rig is constructed on a 2006 Freightliner Columbia Chassis with 183,000-miles on the odometer. Cape describes individual details that all customers should know. The Detroit Diesel powerplant is combined with a 12-speed automatic transmission and tandem rear axles.

With the racing season ramping up, Flying A Motorsports is featuring this pre-owned 2006 NRC Modifications motorhome. This one would be good for a racer looking for value in a Detroit Diesel powered motorhome putting out 515 horsepower.

“One thing we do for our customers is to provide detailed information on used trucks and trailers,” Flying A Motorsports’ Alan Cape says. “Like many units, this rig comes back to us for trade-in from a previous customer purchase. Noted Pro Modified and drag radial racer Daniel Pharris used and cared for this truck.”

Alan Cape explains that knowing what racers will want to know about a used rig, they look closely into each hauler or trailer to give a customer proper details. They don’t want anyone surprised by any condition if they were to travel to look or make a purchase.

“This conversion shows normal usage wear on the interior, and the vinyl wrap shows some age,” Cape describes. “The mechanical side of the Freightliner is very sound with good steering and drive tires all around. Plus it has reasonable hours on a recently installed Onan 10-kilowatt generator meter. Overall, meticulous overall maintenance record are kept on this rig.”

This high-horsepower drivetrain is very desirable for racers wanting to haul multiple cars to the races along with the added payload of tools and parts.

For comfort, this rig is equipped with two rooftop air conditioner units. Either gas or electric sources provide heat. It also comes with a high-end model Girard awning.

“The kitchen area contains your proper ‘fridge, microwave and sink area featuring quartz countertops and quartz tile flooring,” Cape describes. “It also has an outside refrigerator/freezer installed in the saddle doors.”

Not only do we make a detailed inspection on all used trucks or trailers for strong and weak points, but we are also upfront with customers about new units based on what different manufacturers feature and how that can affect pricing and value down the road. – Alan Cape

“Some customer are happy with a motorhome like this in its current used condition,” Alan says. “Some may want to do some detail work to make it pristine. For the price, it’s a good deal either way.”

For example, Cape noted the full vinyl wrap on the truck that provides the current color combination. “Some may want to keep that or remove the wrap to go back to the plain white aluminum exterior,” he says. “That choice is theirs, but they know details like that upfront.”

The entertainment features consist of two televisions in the bedroom and front living room with the usual array of stereo, powered antenna and a new 2018 Winegard satellite dish.

You can view the detailed listing on this motorhome, and each motorhome, toterhome, and trailer when you visit the Flying A Motorsports website.
