Long super smoky burnouts, blowers mounted above the roof line of the car, and cleaver car names with tons of highly competitive side-by-side racing. Yes, the 70s funny car era was truly a special time for the drag racing fan. Sadly, many of us younger straight line fans did not get a chance to enjoy the awesome smell and sounds of these cars.
Now that can change, and no it doesn’t require going back in time. Rocky Mountain Nostalgia Funny Cars was founded on the ever important grounds of long smoky burnouts and close side-by-side racing. Started by Eddy Plaizier, Joey Steckler, and Cal Tebb, the group has been around sense 1994 under the International Blown Alcohol Association. They have spent the last 15 years touring the west and east sides of both the US and Canada with their retro big tire cars.
For 2010 the club wanted to go in a new direction and a new name soon followed. Rocky Mountain Nostalgia Funny Cars Association was born and the leaders of the group soon begun making calls to set up a schedule and rules for the club to tour with. Rule wise things are pretty simple. All car bodies must be 1984 and older, all engines must be blown and run on alcohol. Their current schedule will bring them to many of the top tracks in the Great White North, with a few exhibition races in the states surly to follow.
