The highly anticipated Festival of Power kicks off an incredible milestone this April as Santa Pod Raceway celebrates its 60th anniversary season. Fans of extreme motorsport can expect an unforgettable Easter weekend packed with championship drag racing and family entertainment. Track officials promised that fast and loud action is the absolute order of the day.

Festival of Power

Four supercharged, nitro-burning Funny Cars serve as the main attraction this year. These machines produce over 10,000 horsepower and regularly break the 300-mph barrier while battling for the Funny Car Cup. The track will also host a massive showdown in the Top Fuel Dragster division. Reigning Swedish champion Susanne Callin returns to the driver’s seat to defend her title. Meanwhile, Scottish racing veteran Colin Millar steps up from his usual Outlaw Anglia class to make his Top Fuel debut. The Festival of Power also delivers a spectacular visual experience with its famous jet car showcase.

Fans will witness flames tearing down the strip thanks to vehicles like Oklahoma Willy. This street-legal Volkswagen pickup truck uses a real Rolls-Royce fighter jet engine to blast past the finish line. Even more impressive is the steam-powered rocket motorcycle built by engineer Graham Sykes. Spectators will watch in disbelief as this steam bike attempts to outpace traditional dragsters. Additionally, nearly 300 cars will flood the pits for the opening round of the British Drag Racing Championship. Attendees get free paddock access to watch racing teams wrench on these powerful machines up close.

The adrenaline continues away from the starting line inside the Live Action Arena. World-record-holding stunt driver Terry Grant joins the freestyle motocross riders of Moto Syndicate to perform gravity-defying tricks. Families bringing children can enjoy racing simulators, axe throwing, dinosaur walkabouts, and appearances by popular television characters. Anyone looking for the ultimate weekend getaway can take advantage of the free overnight camping and live evening music. The Festival of Power runs from Friday, April 3, through Sunday, April 5, and guarantees a spectacular start to a historic racing season.
