Milan Dragway has officially been sold to the IHRA. The historic facility opened its doors in 1964 and has been a huge part of the greater Detroit racing scene. Milan has even hosted IHRA events in the past along with other big events.
The IHRA isn’t wasting any time in making improvements to the facility. Kurt Johnson and the team from TVC have already started working on the track surface and in the pits as well. There are also plans to make improvements to the grandstands, restrooms, and concession stands.
Racing veteran and Michigan native Johnny Quick has been named as the track’s new manager.
“Darryl Cuttell is making major investments in the track,” Quick said. “His goal is to make it one of the premier race tracks in the world. Even if I wasn’t the track manager, I would be excited about the improvements taking place. You want your home track to be the best, and I think that Milan Dragway is going to be one of the best tracks around. With Darryl and Kurt, we will have one of the best surfaces in the country to race at.”
With all of the changes being made, there will be some adjustments made to the current Milan Dragway schedule. All of the changes will be posted on the track’s social media pages and website once timelines are established.
