Staying Powered Up At The Track With Powermaster Race Alternators

alt2-3-2

When you’re going rounds at the track on a Saturday night your mind quickly focuses on the next race, rather than making sure your car is still running as it should. One of the areas that can be affected by multiple runs is the car’s voltage level, so making sure you have a way to keep juice in the battery is key. Powermaster offers several different lines of race-grade alternators that can keep the voltage levels high and your race weekend rolling without any issues.

It doesn’t matter if you’re racing a full-on bracket car or a weekend street/strip warrior, having the correct voltage level in your electrical system will keep you racing. The larger electrical fans and massive fuel pumps in a performance car can be a huge draw on the battery and suck the power out quickly. Going rounds, often in round-robin fashion will cut your pit time down, so keeping a charge in the battery becomes difficult and that’s where having the correct race alternator comes in.

JR Richmond from Powermaster provides some valuable information on how to pick the correct alternator and accessories for your racecar the first time:

“It’s important to make sure you have the correct size alternator for your application. As well, dialing in the correct pulley ratio for each application can make or break that new alternator install. Also, your charging system voltage should be between 14-14.8 volts on your standard 12 volt systems. On cars set up for 16 volt systems, the charging voltage should be 18.2-19.2 volts depending on the car’s electronics. Maintaining the correct system voltage can help get the most out of your high -end electrical items.”

Make sure you check out Powermaster’s website to see all the available race alternators and how to size one for your application.
