Controversial but always-entertaining racer Steve Jackson was testing on Friday at the Maryland International Raceway for the Ultimate Outlaws Shootout and laid down a stellar 4.326 at 175.84 MPH – the quickest eighth-mile Drag Radial pass in history – after putting up a 4.34 at 176 just a day prior. Jackson runs a big block Chevy fed by a ProCharger under the hood. Thursday’s 4.34 came on just the fifth hit on a new converter from Pro Torque and the first with Mickey Thompson drag radials. Of course, he’s clearly run radials before, but with the new converter, the first four runs were on slicks.
This video is from Thursday’s 4.34 pass. Word is that the record run was done with a converter from Cameron’s Torque Converter Services out of South Carolina for some back-to-back testing, with the next run using the same unit from Pro Torque used on the 4.34 lap.
