The marketing department at Quarter-Max and Rick Jones Race Cars has been rather busy of late, with a number of new developments on the track, in the shop, and on the web.
The latest racing accolade for the industry-renowned chassis builder came at the PDRA’s Georgia Drags at the South Georgia Motorsports Park over the weekend, where Dylan Stott drove his RJ Race Cars-built 1967 Mustang to victory in Top Sportsman, defeating Dan Ferguson in the final round. The win was the first for the North Carolina driver in nearly two years. Stott drove his nitrous-fed machine to victories over Bruce Thrift, Rick Hord, and Billy Albert to advance his way into the rain-postponed final round that was concluded on Sunday morning.
Said Stott, “”We’ve struggled with this car the last couple of years, but we finally got it figured out to run in the low 4.20s and this thing has been on a string all weekend,” Stott said after posting 4.311 against a 4.25 dial in for the final. Ferguson dialed in 4.17 for his ’02 Firebird, but ran 4.249 in a runner-up cause. “I never saw him (Ferguson), so I dived it a little bit at the finish line,” Stott said. “Just wanted to be safe.”
Also in Georgia, Gene Hector debuted his stunning, state-of-the-art new Pro Extreme 1967 Mustang. Hector qualified ninth in the debut of the Small block Mafia machine, running 3.73 at just 195 MPH.

Another of RJ Race Cars’ top-running customers, Pro Stock ace Erica Enders-Stevens, has continued her torrid pace, and with two wins on the season and appearances in the last four-straight final rounds, she and her Elite Motorsports team find themselves leading the points chase heading into the Atlanta event this weekend. Enders-Stevens’ recent success, including her big hometown win earlier this month in Houston, is featured in a pair of new “Racing In Red” documentary shorts, which highlights the popular Texas driver, crew chiefs Rick and Rickie Jones, and the entire Elite Motorsports team as they travel the country chasing the Pro Stock championship.

Along with producing their run of customer-commissioned race cars, the team at RJ Race Cars occasionally produces an in-house “shop car”, which is later sold as a partially completed project that a buyer can finish to their specifications. Such builds afford one the chance to get their hands on a chassis constructed by one of the premier builders in the world, and one of these cars is currently available through the RJ Race Cars website.
The car, a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, is a Pro Stock-legal finished chassis and body, with Mountain Motor Pro Stock racing, Top Sportsman or Competition Eliminator racing a great fit. The car needs only to be assembled, and can be done so with the components of your choosing.
