This Award-Winning 1987 Fox Body Mustang GT Blends Show Car Style With 1,500 Horsepower

There are plenty of Fox Body Mustangs roaming the streets and drag strips across the United States, but this 1987 Ford Mustang GT built by Byepolr Custom Performance stands in a league of its own. From the carefully selected components to the top-tier craftsmanship behind the build, this award-winning Fox is anything but ordinary.

Joe Odem and the team at Byepolr somehow managed to strike the perfect balance between show car and race car. The first thing that grabs your attention is the laser-straight body, finished in a custom shade of pearl green. A set of 18×5 Forgeline one-piece forged monoblock GS1R Skinny front wheels paired with Forgeline beadlock rear wheels gives the Mustang an aggressive stance that hints at its performance potential.

The attention to detail continues underneath the car.

All of the chassis work was completed in-house at Byepolr, and the Mustang rides on a complete RideTech suspension system. Baer brakes at all four corners provide the stopping power needed to rein in the car’s impressive performance.

Of course, this Mustang isn’t just built to look good, it has the horsepower to back it up.

A pair of Bullseye NLX turbochargers, plumbed with Vibrant Performance hardware, force-feed boost into a 427 cubic-inch small-block Ford engine. Behind the boosted Ford powerplant sits a 6XD billet sequential transmission, which sends more than 1,500 horsepower to a Merillat rearend. Engine management duties are handled by a Haltech ECU, giving the combination the control needed to maximize performance.
