2016-03-12_20-25-59Chickenhawk Motorsports’ Thomas Jones debuted his DMC Racing-built, 1967 twin turbo Xtreme Pro Mod Mustang at the Ross Racing Pistons Muscle Car Mayhem season opener on March 12-13 in Bradenton, Florida.

With Jones’ previous racing experience, it’s no surprise that the first outing with his car was a success, and resulted in capturing the event’s top speed in the Xtreme Pro Mod class at 204 mph. Jones qualified fourth and lost in the second round to Richard Cohen with a slowing 4.34s.

ad-3Jones utilized ProTorque’s new EV1 converter for the new machine, sharing that he was “very happy with it,” and that”it works perfect with my combination.”

Pro Torque has been a contributing factor to many record-setting passes in both 1/4- and 1/8-mile racing, with the EV1 as a cornerstone in its continued success.

“This whole EV1 project has taken us a very long time to develop,” stated Joe Rivera of ProTorque. “When considering the amount of power that we’re putting through these torque converters, I wanted to create the safest possible bolt-together kit on the market. This kind of development takes a lot of time, energy and money.

“Many of our racers have asked for this numerous times over, and I am very proud of the product that we’ve created. Even more exciting is the stator development that’s coming down the design pipeline,” he continued. “This is not only a safe bolt-together design, but it will become the venue for a lot of improved stator designs to come, and offer even more adjustability for our customers.”
