Todd Lesenko is officially returning to the high-horsepower world of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. After more than a decade away from full-time competition with the team, the Canadian native has signed on to pilot the Funny Car for Jim Dunn Racing in 2026. This move is a huge comeback for the driver from Edmonton, Alberta, who last campaigned a full season with the legendary outfit back in 2012.

The reunion brings back a driver who proved his consistency under pressure during his last tenure. In that 2012 season, Todd Lesenko managed a feat that few newcomers ever achieve. He was the only rookie to qualify at every single national event on the 23-race schedule. He views this opportunity as a blessing to race alongside friends and what he considers family. The timing is also historic for the organization itself. As the NHRA celebrates its 75th season, Jim Dunn Racing is marking 76 years of success in the sport. At 91 years old, “Big Jim” Dunn continues to call the shots as crew chief and plans to keep going as long as he can.

The team is not just relying on history to find speed this year. Jon Dunn announced a major technical alliance with AB Motorsports to boost their performance. This relationship means the team will receive support from Antron Brown’s operation and will be parked alongside the Top Fuel dragster throughout the season. Primary sponsorship support comes from Lescure Mechanical, True Brand, and Moon Equipment, ensuring the team has the resources to compete.

Preparations are already underway for the season opener in Florida. The team heads to preseason testing in February, where the driver will complete his relicensing procedures. The real action begins March 5 at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville. With a veteran team behind him and new technical data to rely on, Todd Lesenko is poised to make his return to the strip a memorable one.
