As we alluded to in our coverage of the NMCA Flowmaster Muscle Car Nationals from Bowling Green last weekend over on StreetMuscleMag, Troy Coughlin’s brand new Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built ’68 Camaro has been completed at the Missouri chassis shop and is in the hands of the JEG’S team at their facility in Delaware, Ohio, with Troy expected to make several quarter-mile test hits today and Wednesday at the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk.
Coughlin intends to make the much-anticipated debut of the twin-turbocharged machine at the next stop on the Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series event, the the 5th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.
The Jerry Bickel designed and built Camaro is powered by a 504-cubic inch big block powerplant utilizing electronic fuel injection on methanol, built by Kenny Duttweiler at Duttweiler Performance. The some 2,500 horsepower will be transferred through a triple-disc Crower clutch and a three-speed Lenco transmission.
The turbocharged small block GTO that Coughlin has driven to his current 11th place in the points standings, owned by Californian Jim Hairston, will be at Indianapolis as a backup car.
