Celebrating six decades of burning rubber and shattered eardrums, Santa Pod’s 60th anniversary season kicks off with a massive doubleheader that promises pure adrenaline. Fans looking for the ultimate horsepower fix will flock to the legendary venue over the next two weekends to witness some of the fastest machines on the planet. Launching the celebration, The Doorslammers brings full-bodied cars to the strip to battle for a staggering £100,000 prize purse.

Following that initial blast, an extended Bank Holiday weekend delivers an incredible two-for-one racing experience. Opening the festivities, the brand-new Carl Cox Motorsport Series targets the Pro Mod class. Superstar DJ Carl Cox posted a £20,000 bounty to support and grow the category. Operating on an Australian-style 5.90-second index, this series gives budget-limited teams a real chance to compete. Continuing the Santa Pod’s 60th anniversary celebration, the action transitions seamlessly into The Main Event. Official event details state that “The Main Event brings over 300 car and motorcycle teams from 18 countries” to contest the European drag racing championships.

Showcasing pure ground-shaking power, the Top Fuel Dragster class features a fierce rivalry between Europe’s fastest women. Sweden’s Susanne Callin and Switzerland’s Jndia Erbacher will unleash 11,000 horsepower down the 1,000-foot course to settle the score. Stepping up to challenge the ladies, Outlaw Anglia racer Colin Millar plans to run his Top Fuel dragster to earn an elite license. Meanwhile, the Pro Mod category expects an absolute slugfest as 20 entries fight for just 16 elimination spots. Defending European champion Jere Rantaniemi faces tough competition from Andres Arnover. Organizers proudly note Arnover is “Europe’s quickest-ever Pro Mod racer” after running a blistering 5.695-second pass last year. Two-wheeled fans also get a treat as Rikard Gustafsson returns to defend his Top Fuel Bike title with a motorcycle capable of hitting 260 mph.

Packing the paddock with everything from nitro Funny Cars to Junior Dragsters guarantees nonstop entertainment for every motorsport addict attending the events. Experiencing Santa Pod’s 60th anniversary in person offers solid fans a rare chance to see drag racing history unfold right before their very eyes.
