Bracket racer-turned-smack talkin’ grudge/no prep racer “Disco Dean” Karns was uninjured on Saturday evening in a high-speed crash when he lost control of his famed “Stinky Pinky” supercharged Camaro while competing at the Mountain Park Dragway in Clay City, Kentucky.
Karns, who is perhaps most well-known for his infamous “tie” with Justin “Big Chief” Shearer on the Discovery Channel’ Street Outlaws last season, was booked into the Kentucky strip for a $20,000 match race with no prep king James “Birdman Finney. Karns, running in the left lane, trailed Finney the length of the 1/8-mile strip and, right in the lights, darted across the centerline behind Finney’s Camaro. Karns attempted to reign the car in, but ultimately overcorrected and turned it over on its roof, barrel-rolling to a stop in the shutdown area.
Thankfully, Karns emerged in much better shape than “Stinky Pinky” did and remained his usual jovial self with the fans following the incident. On Sunday, undeterred by the events of the night previous, he had a little fun with the ordeal, producing a Facebook Live video of himself covered in bandages and a neck brace, only the shed it off mid-stream to inform the world he was still headed to Las Vegas for the Spring Fling bracket race and will be back with “Stinky Pinky” or another big tire car for a part duex with Birdman.
