Earlier today, Eric Dillard and the Q80 team turned in a 3.59 at 216 in a test session at Datar Racing Club in Doha, Qatar, becoming the first-ever non-supercharged door car in the 3.50 zone. But the records didn’t stop there, as this incredible world-record pass was laid down today by Ebrahim Kanoo Racing’s Khalid Mohamed in preparation for the fourth round of the Arabian Drag Racing League’s events during the same test session.
Ebrahim’s Tim McAmis-built EKanoo Racing ’68 Camaro relies on 903 cubic inches of nitrous-injected Pat Musi power and a MoTec engine management system that’s remote-tuned by Shane Tecklenburg and Eric Luzinski here in the US. On-site, crew chief Haider Moh’d assists with the tune, and together the team cranked out an incredible 3.701 at over 202MPH today in testing.
This is simply an astonishing number from any door car, let alone a nitrous-injected car that simply must hit the track with guns blazing in order to achieve a low elapsed time. This is where those electronic controls come into play, and Tecklenburg is a master at walking the walk. From the hit, the car runs straight and true, barely touching the wheelie bars – a testament to the chassis tuning and quality chassis built by the McAmis team. We do see a very slight wiggle at halftrack, but Mohamed overcomes the momentary loss of grip to power through the big end with ease.
The question now becomes, will we see a 3.6x pass from EKanoo Racing this weekend in Round 4 of the ADRL’s series? This Pro Nitrous world record pass is nothing short of astonishing – we just wish we were there to see it in person.
