Thunder Valley Raceway held its first ever Outlaw Armageddon no-prep/no-time shootout the weekend of August 14-15 bringing together some of the most badass track and street racers from across the nation to go head-to-head with a flashlight start. Along with a massive 15,000-plus spectator count and fields full of big-horsepower cars, the event brought out the “never-lift” attitude in the drivers, leading to a few (relatively minor) crashes and some spectacular near-misses! We’ve pulled a few videos to share, though more footage will likely show up on YouTube over the coming days.

crash1This clean street rod – sporting a blown big block, wheelie bars, and meaty rear tires – overpowers the track and taps the wall with both ends. The highlight of this piece, however, is the excellent driving by the owner of the pickup in the other lane, who deftly maneuvers the hulking truck around the spinning street rod without making contact or losing control himself! Best of all, the guys at Urban Hillbilly never even flinched as the car headed right for them and their camera and smacked the wall.

With another excellent save, Street Outlaws’ No. 1 man, Justin “Big Chief” Shearer, who went on to win the $20,000 No Prep Invitational at Outlaw Armageddon, has raced out to a comfortable lead in this clip, from Urban Hillbilly, over James “Doc” Love when Shearer’s “Crow” GTO begins losing traction downtrack. Big Chief shows his quick reaction time in correcting the car while dumping the chutes, which pull the rear of the car safely back in line, while still managing to cross the finish line first by over a car length.

Notable in this compilation from BigRob Entertainment: a wheelstanding Malibu wagon, a couple of impromptu nose jobs, some starting line carnage, and an excellent save by Chuck Seitsinger from Street Outlaws, which is highlighted in the following clip from 1320 Videos.

Screen Shot 2015-08-20 at 10.12.47 AMYou’ll notice that not only does Chuck do a masterful job of taming his notoriously-squirrely Death Trap Ford Mustang, but his opponent also does some fancy dancing to avoid making contact after Seitsinger crosses over into his lane, missing him by mere inches! Both drivers deserve credit for keeping their cars off the wall and each other.

The first Outlaw Armageddon was a huge success, so this time next year, we’ll probably be bringing you even more mishaps and near-misses!
