Australian drag racer Warren Allen has taken the wraps off his latest weapon: a reborn Dodge Avenger purpose-built for the Outlaw 315 radial ranks. What began life as an RJ Race Cars-built Pro Stock machine, once campaigned by Lee Bektash that’s held a national speed record in Australia, has now been transformed from the ground up into a no-compromise radial-tire build.
“I’m a guy that just loves to race. I’d race wheelie bins if they let me,” Allen says. That mentality has carried him across multiple classes, from competition dragsters and altereds to his turbo Barra-powered FG Falcon he races in the Jamboree series. But this Avenger is an entirely new animal: a twin-turbocharged, big-block bruiser aimed squarely at the Kenda 660 drag radial series.
The project to convert the car was done entirely in-house by Profab Motorsport Fabrications, with key components sourced from some of the most respected names in the sport. The heart of the build is a Pro Line Racing Stage 2 481X big-block, built and maintained by Dandy Engines. Boost comes courtesy of twin Precision XPR 98mm turbos, with power controlled via a full FuelTech FT600 system and electronics suite. Speedflow Australia 550 crimped fittings handle plumbing, while Turbosmart valves and wastegates manage boost control.
“It’s a lightweight, full carbon-fiber car, and we built it with the goal to be competitive with the best in the world,” Allen explains. “Profab did everything, and we only trusted the best names in racing for every part of this build. Racing my turbo FG Falcon got me interested in radial racing, so here we are.”
Backing the powerplant is a Protrans Performance Automatics two-speed lockup Turbo 400 paired with an M&M Transmission lock-up converter. Suspension duties fall to Menscer Motorsports hybrid Pro Mod struts up front and 4-way adjustable rear shocks out back. The wiring was handled by Enzo at Regional Auto Electrics, while paint and finishing touches were done by Tony’s Prestige and Adrian at Airbrush World.
The car is scheduled for dyno testing in the coming weeks before hitting the track for its first passes. Allen expects it to run in the mid-3.6-second range once fully dialed in. “We’re hoping to mix it with the big boys in Outlaw 315. That’s what this car is built for.”
Allen also has his eyes on international competition. “We’re coming to America next year. I’ve got a dragster we’ll run in a few NHRA events, and we’re in the process of buying a Pro Import car to race over there, too.”
With a proven chassis, top-shelf parts, and Allen’s all-in racing mentality, the Avenger should be a serious threat — whether in Australia or on U.S. soil.
