Many drag racers and drag racing fans out there have a love for the sport founded on the heroes of the 1970’s. If the legends of the 70’s are your racing heroes, Yahoo News has put together a list of who they believe to be the top five drag racers of that era.

The big draw in the NHRA in this era were the Funny Cars, and their drivers were the rock stars. The list of racers begins with Bob Glidden at number five. Glidden had some of his best years at the end of the 70’s and was a force in the 80’s as well. At number four is Shirley Muldowney, the queen of drag racing. She had some great years of racing in the 70’s and into the 80’s.

The third spot on the list goes to Jim Liberman, called one of the first “personalities” in drag racing. Number two spot goes to Don Prudhomme, perhaps one of the most iconic drag racers ever. The top spot on the list goes to Raymond Beadle. He drove the Blue Max that was nearly impossible to beat. So do you agree with these choices? Who would you have on your top five drag racers list from the 70’s or any other era?
