If you ever wanted to go drag racing in style with one of the quickest and winningest doorslammers in recent memory and happen to be sitting on a windfall of cash – perhaps you went six-for-six in the Mega Millions lottery last Friday – then we’ve found just the answer for you.
The Awesome Al-Anabi Racing team placed Mike Castellanas’ record-setting, championship-winning 1969 Camaro for sale on Thursday on the Yellow Bullet forums with an asking price of just – repeat, just – $85,000 minus the fabricated headers and $90,000 with. Jerry Bickel Race Cars built the Camaro, which sports an ultra lightweight Cynergy Composites carbon fiber body.
Castellana debuted the Camaro in 2010 and drove it to the 2011 ADRL Pro Nitrous championships last season. It also recorded the first 5.7-second nitrous pass in Pro Modified history last June with a jaw-dropping 5.781 at the NHRA Supernationals in Englishtown.
The expansive Al-Anabi Racing team has had a frequent turnover rate on race cars of which virtually no expense was spared, and this has afforded other racers the opportunity to acquire lightly used cars – just like this one – at a price much more manageable than a shiny new one. That’s a win for the lower-buck racer.
It certainly isn’t a car for everyone’s budget, but it’s going to make one hell of a competitive car for someone.
