The manufactures midway has many vendors on hand including several new additions. from clothes to engines there is most everything you need for your race car, including full race cars from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks, Racecraft Inc. or TRZ Motorsports.

Freak off my Leash clothing has a booth set up for their first time at a drag race. The line was founded in 2013 with the website going live in February this year. Dakota and Christine Routh came on board through Lenco Jim and normally market to fitness and street wear market including shirts, hoodies, hats ect. They are really enjoying the atmosphere and are already discussing designs targeted to the drag racing market.

Wiseco has a display for the first time this year showcasing several different piston designs and coatings and their K-1 crank and connecting rods. I spoke with representative Victor Ellinger who ran off a list of racers that use their product, including Dewayne Mills, Steve Jackson, Brad Edwards and Team M&M. You can see the difference in the greenish hard anodized coating and the gold armor plating. They also offer a billet series piston for custom applications. Oscar Rodriguez from Precision Racing Development (PRD) and Jeff Cartain talk piston tech.

Mark Woodruff (near lane) earned a round one win over Taylor Lastor running a personal best 4.104 at 192.33 MPH, scoring low ET to Lastor’s game 4.248.

Frank Soldridge got a win over the quicker Steven Chrisafulli after his -.013 red light, running a 4.29 to Steven’s 4.23.

A red light from Bubba Livingston (far lane) put Scotty G into round two. He got into a wheelstand and lifted slowing to a 4.79 while Livingston went down to a personal best 4.29 at 174 in his first event on drag radials.

Jermaine Boddie took one for the west coast putting up a 4.29 at 185, upsetting The Kevin Mullins who slowed to a 4.46 after getting a bit too much air under the front tires.

Jeff Cooner was paired with Roger Holder with both racers going red by .003 and .004 respectively, Cooner made a nice run with a 4.19 to Holder’s 4.27.

Ultimate Street was the next class to run this morning with Josh Nesbitt and Bart Tobener the first pair of cars out. Tobener was late on the tree with a .139 with just .002 separating the ET, a 5.179 to Nesbitt’s 5.197.

Number one qualifier John Keesey paired up with Eric Waters putting a .060 reaction and 4.09 at 139 to Waters’ sleepy .440 light and 5.47 ET.

Thomas Cox from Spring, Texas qualified number three and matched up with Mark Buchanan from Taylors, SC. Both drivers were off pace with Cox getting the win with a 6.10 at 133.

Steve Jackson and Frank Meshaw were paired up for round two of PTC Radial vs the World. Meshaw has run consistent 4.20’s this weekend which can often go rounds but he fell off pace after spinning the tires early in the run against Jackson’s 4.15 at 179 MPH.

Kyle Hutell and Jermaine Boddie met up in a Texas vs California matchup which went badly for Boddie after a -.019 red light. Hutell went on to a 4.30 clicking it early to just 169 MPH.

Josh Klugger has the Racecraft/FKR Racing Mustang already in the 4.20’s at their race debut. He put a .013 light on Thrillbilly Shane Stack, going onto the win with a 4.24 at a nice 192 MPH.

Mark Woodruf laid down a 4.10 at 193 taking high MPH for the round and the win over Frank Soldridge.

The lovely round card girls are sporting stewardess outfits this weekend, certainly appropriate give all the flying cars at Duck X Productions events at SGMP.

In X275 Turbo Todd Moyer had Chris Shortridge in round two who went red by .008. Moyer scored a 4.64 at 154 and the right to play on in round three.

Jason Richards has been running well this weekend and had a single in round two. He laid one down with a 4.47 at 165 for the leaf spring equipped nitrous Camaro.

Nitrous X Racer Scott Vestal hails from Bristol, TN running an 89 Mustang with 464 cubic inches under the hood. The car left hard scoring a 4.84 at 143 MPH.

Once into the semi finals of PTC Radial vs the World it was Kyle Hutell and Brad Edwards wit the other pair being Jamie Hancock and Dewayne Mills. Word was Mills was hurt and he certainly was blowing smoke on his round 3 win over Jeff Cooner with a 4.13 at just 187 MPH. Edwards and Hutell were the first pair up and Texan Hutell cut the tree down with a .013 reaction to Edwards .041 giving the nitrous huffing Camaro a big lead. Edwards faltered at the start while Hutell started pulling the front end up and drifting right. He stayed in it as long as he could but crossed the center taking out the cones at the stripe recording a 4.30 at 154 to Edwards default win 4.33 at 154.

Hancock was late on the tree but Mills was indeed hurt and simply took the tree and watched Hancock roll out to a 4.129 at 182 earning a match with Brad Edwards.

In the final Hancock was again better on the tree with a .031 and a .033 advantage. Again Edwards was off pace and wasn’t close enough to catch Hancock even after a backfire just past half track. At the stripe it was Hancock’s 4.488 at 130 earning the win to Edwards’ 4.762 at 147.

Scott Husted qualified eighth in Outlaw Drag Radial and ran consistent 4.30’s with a best of 4.34 at 178 in a round three win over Barry Mitchell’s 4.36 at 173. He faced off with Brad Bonnette in the semis recording a 4.37, earning the win after Bonnette’s -.001 red light.

The other pair was Jeffery Barker and Brian Anderson with barker getting the win with a 4.38 at 169 with Anderson going red.

In the final New Port Richey, Florida based Husted was on his game with a .005 reaction to Barkers dead late .372. Husted took home the cash, the trophy and the hat with a 4.370 to Barker’s quicker 4.356 at 170.

X275 had some fantastic action this weekend with Todd Moyer, Dean Marinis, Ron Rhodes and Kyle Hand left in the semi finals with everyone but Hand showing 4.60’s or better in competition. Moyer and Marinis were first out with Marinis getting the reaction time advantage by about a tenth. He would lose traction however and Moyer went down clean with a 4.603 earning a spot in the final.

Ron Rhodes faced off with Kyle Hand who had purchased the infamous white 77 Trans Am formerly owned by Ducky Johnson and driven by Patrick Clenney who exited first round in the teams Mustang in a loss to Shane Fisher. Rhodes took a small starting line advantage and went on to win with a 4.70 at 151 to Hand’s 4.77 at 147.

Moyer and Rhodes was a great match on paper with Moyer having a better elimination ET by just .003 and lane choice for the final. Rhodes knocked down the tree with a .006 reaction but could not hold on down track as Moyer went on past with a 4.57 at 154 to the double entered Rhodes’ 4.69 at 152 ending his efforts at a double up win.

In Outlaw 275 action it would be number one and two qualifiers meeting in the all nitrous final. Barry Mitchell had been running pretty consistent 4.30’s while Brian McGee’s best was a 4.44 on his round three single. In the semis Mitchell got the best of Kevin Scott’s twin turbo Chevy II with a 4.366 at 171 with McGee recording a 4.46 at 161 over Scotty Ray. Mitchell had been better on the tree all day and the final went the same way with Mitchell out first with a nice .007 reaction to McGee’s .074. A 4.385 at 171 for Mitchell sealed the deal as McGee fell off pace to a 7.36. Barry Mitchell shown.

Ultimate Street umber one qualifier Shawn Pevlor and record holder had ran well all day and knocked down low ET in round three in his win over Robert Rogers with a 4.99 at 139 to Rogers’ 5.12. He met with Brian Keep’s flamed S-10 in the semi final running a 5.008 at 140 to earn the win over Keep’s game 5.16 at 136, his best effort of the weekend.

Rob Corujo had lane choice over Thomas Cox in the other pair left and put up a .011 reaction time to Cox’s .050. He would need that holeshot as Cox went on to his best of event 5.078 at 138. Corujo would get the win despite his slower 5.091 at 137, also his best of event effort. Rob Corujo shown.

The final saw Pevlor with lane choice, better reaction and low ET with a 4.900 at 144 as Corujo put up another 5.09 though he was caught sleeping at the tree with a .204 light.

Ron Rhodes also entered Leafspring with his trusty 68 Camaro and took top qualifier honors with a 4.635. He faced off with west coast racer Armen Maghdessian’s gorgeous 57 Chevy who qualified in the number five position. Armen took a rare holeshot on Rhodes with an .018 but struck the tires early allowing Rhodes to get by with a 4.71 at 150.

Bryan Marrow was the number two qualifier with his Procharged big block Camaro and faced Steve Wardlow’s Yenko style Nova in the other pair of semifinalists. Wardlow did his job on the tree with a .004 reaction and put up a respectable 5.046 at 141 it just wasn’t enough to hold off Marrow’s hard charging 4.908 at 149 MPH Camaro.

Marrow would take the advantage in the final with an .020 reaction to Rhodes .080, also running his eliminations best 4.868 at 150. Rhodes laid down a 4.690 to get around Marrow and earn the class win.

Nitrous X number one qualifier Darren Hilterbran faced off with Tim Knieriem scoring a come from behind win after a .072 reaction to Knieriem’s .014. At the stripe it was a 4.711 at 149 to Knieriem’s best effort in eliminations 4.795 at 145.

Nitrous X didn’t get in under the curfer and made it to the semi finals where David Acker backfired big time at the hit against Shawn Pevlor.

Outlaw 632 had a good mix of big and small tires cars with troy Pirez Sr. scoring to qualifier with a 4.593 at 157 MPH. Round three saw Lamar Swindell Jr. ride out a wheelie and spin across the center line right at the stripe taking out the MPH cone in a great save to keep it off the wall in his match with Gary Wright who moved on to the semi with to face off with Allen Ditto. The class made it to the semis before running up against the midnight curfew with Wright getting around Ditto with a 4.94 at 142 who fell off pace to a 5.18 after earning lane choice in round three with a 4.62 at 152 over Alan Gaulden. Pirez had the earned single running a 6.67 at 101 with Wright and Pirez splitting the win.

Twelve cars took advantage of the X275 Second Chance race with Vince Polazzolo earning number one qualifier with a 4.687. Steve Wardlaw put his 69 Nova in third spot and faced off with seventeen year old Braxton Hopkins in the semi finals. Wardlaw took a .006 starting line advantage going on to a 4.933 at 142, just ahead of Hopkins’ game 4.941 at 143.14.

Polazzolo ran a 4.695 against Kenny Hubbard’s orange Nova taking the win over Hubbard’s 4.820 to set up the final where Polazzolo put up a 4.68 at 156 taking the class with over Steve Wardlaw.
