NHRA: Event Recap on DRAGZINE. Fan favorite drivers David Grubnic and Jack Beckman scored for the first time in 2012 in Top Fuel and Funny Car, respectively, at the NHRA Summernationals at Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas on Sunday. Grubnic edged Spencer Massey in the money round, running 3,89 to Massey’s 3.91. Beckman, who has seen a complete transformation of his race team this season, turned back teammate Ron Capps in a huge holeshot victory as the former racing school instructor and sportsman racing champ nailed a near-perfect .004 reaction time in the final. In Pro Stock, Allen Johnson scored one for the Mopar faithful as he downed Greg Anderson in the final, 6.58 to 6.69. For complete, detailed results from Topeka, click over to NHRA.com.

Chris Foster defended the home turf in Top Alcohol Funny Car, defeating John Anderika in a tight 5.74 to 5.75 final round matchup, and Jason Coan used a better light and ran further under the index to claim the Competition Eliminator title in his F/ED.
