Race Recap: The Shakedown At M’Town Was One Epic Show

The Shakedown at E’Town helped blaze a path in the drag racing world for big doorslammer races. After being continued at Summit Motorsports Park and Virginia Motorsports Park, the Shakedown was brought back to life by US 131 Motorsports Park with the Shakedown At M’Town. The new event lived up to its name with record-setting passes and great racing.

This new version of The Shakedown received an injection of the Radial Outlaws Racing Series (RORS) and Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MDRS), creating an epic mixture of doorcar racing action. The team at US 131 Motorsports Park gave the radial tire racers and slick tire racers an amazing surface to compete on all event long. The final result was a successful event that provided plenty of entertainment for drag racing fans.

Radials Run Wild At The Shakedown

The Shakedown was the final event for RORS racers to earn points before the double points season finale at No Mercy 16. Racers who are in the hunt for a championship pushed hard to go rounds at US 131 Motorsports Park. This set the table for some incredible racing all weekend long.

Ken Quartuccio has been a runaway train tearing through Radial vs The World in 2025, that is, until The Shakedown. Quartuccio qualified number one, reset the radial record at US 131 Motorsports several times, but turned on the redlight in the second round against Chris Daniel. On the other side of the ladder, Ned Dumphy ran quicker than both of his opponents, who also happened to red light as well. In the final round, Daniel, the reigning Radial vs The World champion, got the job done and brought home a Shakedown victory.

Grantley Schloss rolled into The Shakedown as the Pro 275 points leader. On race day, Schloss tore through his side of the ladder to make his way to the final round. Lyle Barnett took advantage of his number one qualifying spot, and ran an impressive string of 3.60s to punch his ticket to the final. Schloss was able to get the best of Barnett in the final to win The Shakedown, and solidify his points lead in Pro 275 before No Mercy.

Limited Drag Radial was the largest and most competitive class at The Shakedown. Jamie Stanton qualified number six and beat several tough racers on his way to the final round. Number one qualifier Jamie Hancock kicked off eliminations with a bye run, and then blasted his way to the finals against Stanton. Hancock’s Camaro proved to be too much for Stanton, and he picked up the win.

DJ McCain has dominated the RORS X275 class in 2025. After qualifying in the third spot, McCain continued to run through the class and put himself in the final round. 2024 RORS X275 champion Ron Rhodes qualified number one at The Shakedown, and earned a date with McCain in the finals. In an absolute battle of a race, McCain was able to edge Rhodes out and win The Shakedown.

The Ultra Street field was stacked at The Shakedown. Camren Massengale qualified number one and raced his way to the final round behind the wheel of his Corvette. RORS Ultra Street points leader Jessie Coulter did his job and earned a final round appearance against Massengale. In the final, Massengale’s nitrous-fed Corvette proved to be too much for Coulter’s Mustang, landing Massengale in the winner’s circle.

Limited 235 was also contested at The Shakedown, and Wes Ervin was able to pick up the win. The boards were turned off for the N/T 275 class, and Kallee Mills raced her way into the Shakedown winner’s circle. In Pro Street/10.5 Adrian Herrera was victorious.

Midwest Drag Racing Series Put On A Show

The MDRS brought its slick tire circus to US 131, and it was the perfect match for the radial tire madness of the RORS. Pro Mod qualifying was intense with plenty of racers running personal bests to make the show.

Just making the Pro Mod field at The Shakedown was tough, and that made eliminations an absolute meatgrinder for each racer. Jeff Rudolf qualified number four, and raced his way into the final round. Robert Costa made the most of his race day and found a way to win enough to book a date in the final against Rudolf. In the final, Rudolf’s 3.61 was a backbreaker and proved to be too much for Costa, earning him a well-deserved victory.

Craig Sullivan found a way to turn his first round Pro Mod loss into something positive at The Shakedown. Sullivan dropped into the Slammers second chance race and marched to the final round. In the final, Sullivan ripped off a 3.57 to pick up the win.

In Top Sportsman, Jon Vesper and Charlie Whittenburg faced off in the final round. Vesper was able to run the number and put his Cavalier in the winner’s circle. Top Dragster was filled with a variety of open-wheel machines, and Lucas Salemi was able to turn on the final win light.

The Shakedown At M’Town was able to capture the electricity of the races that were held at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. While it’s impossible to replace the original Shakedown At E’Town, the new event at US 131 Motorsports Park now has the chance to carve out its own place in doorslammer racing history.
